The Fearless Pen: Chapter 6 (The Judas Contract)

A hush fell over the room as Alhaji Tanko's eyes bored into Fatima. The shattered glass glittered ominously under the dim lights, each shard a reflection of her shattered trust. She steadied herself, her mind racing to find a plausible explanation for her clumsiness.

Tanko's gaze narrowed, suspicion clouding his eyes. "Indeed," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Perhaps you should leave the serving to the professionals."

Once back in the safety of the kitchen, Fatima's mind raced. She had heard enough to know that HOJ was planning to destabilize the elections and seize power through chaos. But the most shocking revelation was yet to come.

As she listened to the muffled conversation from the adjoining room, a familiar voice cut through the din. It was her brother, Bawa Bello, a respected businessman and philanthropist, a man she had always looked up to.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim, imprisoned in a damp, dark cell, endured relentless torture at the hands of HOJ's enforcers. They demanded to know Fatima's whereabouts and the extent of her knowledge, but Ibrahim remained steadfast, his loyalty to his wife unwavering.

Each day, his body grew weaker, his spirit more battered, but he refused to break. He knew that if he revealed anything, Fatima's life would be in grave danger. His only solace was the faint hope that she was safe, that she would find a way to expose HOJ and bring them to justice.
